Lobbyists are attacking a vital provision in Senate Bill 160 that establishes mandatory reporting of all hospital-acquired infections. The Connecticut Hospital Association believes voluntary reporting and community education on "hand hygiene and respiratory etiquette" is sufficient. The author believes the bill will give hospitals an incentive to clean up their act and help ease patients' concerns by providing more uniform, comprehensive information.
