State Farm Insurance Cos. agrees to pay $74 million to settle a complaint filed by the Mississippi attorney general over its handling of homeowner policies in the wake of Hurricane Katrina.
State Farm had previously refused to comply with a January agreement requiring the insurer to reevaluate homeowner claims. The original deal could have required Allstate to pay as much as $400 million in additional claims.
